Our Partners
To accomplish our mission, The Jordan Institute works with a broad array of public, private, and governmental organizations. Key partners we have established to date include (in alphabetical order):
- Audubon Society of New Hampshire
(www.nhaudubon.org)
- The Audubon Society of New Hampshire (ASNH), a nonprofit statewide membership organization, is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and habitat throughout the state. Independent of the National Audubon Society, ASNH has offered programs in wildlife conservation, land protection, environmental policy, and environmental education since 1914. The mission of ASNH is to protect and enhance New Hampshire's natural environment for wildlife and for people. The Jordan Institute and ASNH have partnered together to deliver a municipal planning process that works to preserve New Hampshire's unique rural heritage by balancing a town's built, social, and ecological requirements. - Integrated Design/Integrated Development Conference Co-Sponsors
(www.aianh.org/idid.asp)
- In 2001 and 2002, Jordan helped initiate a new collaboration among the building design community represented by AIANH, the landscape design community represented by Granite State Landscape Architects, and the Office of Sustainability Programs at UNH. Jordan, AIANH, GSLA, and OPS/UNH jointly organized the first Integrated Design/Integrated Development conference in March, 2003. As a result, the NH Forum magazine “for those who shape the built environment”expanded from an AIANH publication to joint publication with with GSLA and OSP/UNH, providing more opportunity for exploration of integrated design in the design communities throughout the state. The Second Annual IDID Conference was even more successful in March, 2004!
- New Hampshire Public Health Association
(www.nhpha.org)
- The New Hampshire Public Health Association (NHPHA) is dedicated to promoting and improving the health and wellness of the people of New Hampshire. The Jordan Institute has been a co-sponsor of the Association's Fall Forum events for the past two years and is co-sponsoring this year's Annual Meeting.
- Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests
(www.spnhf.org)
- The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF) was founded by a handful of concerned citizens in 1901, and has today grown into one of the country's most effective statewide land conservation groups. SPNHF has provided building design and site scale technical resources to the New Hampshire Minimum Impact Development Partnership (MIDP). Minimum Impact Development (MID) is a new approach to development led by The Jordan Institute. It's purpose is to ensure high quality choices in the character of New Hampshire's communities, municipalities and unincorporated places. This approach combines "smart growth" land use planning, conservation of land, wildlife, and natural resources, and excellent indoor environments and energy efficiency.
